Robert Requejo Ramos
writer / director / producer / development

Hi, I’m Robby —

I’m a writer and filmmaker based in Miami. I didn’t take a straight path here. I dropped out of film school, played in bands, answered a Craigslist ad, and ended up working on boats throughout the Mediterranean and Caribbean. That stretch taught me how to work under pressure, navigate strong personalities, and keep things moving when the path forward isn’t clear.

Eventually, I returned to school for film, where my thesis short swept the Miami Film Festival’s CinemaSlam awards and was licensed by PBS. Since then, I’ve directed and produced work that’s screened at SXSW, DOC NYC, and the Miami International Film Festival. I’ve made a feature documentary (South Beach Shark Club), adapted memoirs into screenplays, produced branded and educational content, and I’m currently enrolled in UCLA’s Professional Screenwriting Program.

Beyond the films themselves, I’ve been deeply involved in getting work seen. For South Beach Shark Club, that meant building a grassroots campaign that included a seventy-foot mural in downtown Miami, coverage on WLRN, a cover feature in Miami New Times, and sustained social and video content that helped drive audience engagement and distribution. I’ve also produced a multi-episode educational series that generated seven figures in revenue and helped land a client in Forbes.

My work lives in the space where imagination meets structure. I take ideas in motion—early sparks, loose threads, stories still becoming—and shape them into narratives with clarity, rhythm, and purpose. I’m comfortable making decisions before everything is clear, trusting instinct while applying craft, and refining in motion. From the page to the edit to release, I see projects through with stewardship and intention.
